Privamnuts Kenya Limited was incorporated in the year 2011 to primarily engage in agro food processing and more importantly to exploit the opportunity that existed in the Kenyan Macadamia market. When it started, the company had its principal offices and processing plant in the industrial area of Thika municipality, about 30 Km from Nairobi, the Capital City of Kenya.
In year 2012, the company got into a joint venture with a multinational company, Swiss Gourmet Co. Ltd, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. As a result, a new company, Privamnuts-Swiss Gourmet Kenya Ltd was incorporated. The new company was processing and exporting nuts to Swiss Gourmet Co. Ltd under an exclusive agreement. The agreement continued until the year 2014 when both companies mutually agreed to end the joint venture and the local company was free to export to other buyers and markets.
In the year 2015 the company constructed a new state-of-the-art processing plant in Embu town, about 130 Km from Nairobi. The new plant began operations in February 2016. In the same year, the company changed its name to PRIVAMNUTS EPZ (KENYA) LTD, and was issued with an operating license to operate as an EPZ company. Privamnuts EPZ (Kenya) Ltd currently has a processing capacity of 7,000 metric tons of nuts inshell per year.
The company maintains more than 100,000 macadamia seedlings in its Nursery and promotes best practice and innovation in growing and handling.
Privamnuts supplies macadamia kernel to some of the world’s largest food manufacturers, as well as the snack, bakery, ingredient, retail and confectionary industry sectors.
